Late July + August Update

Unfortunately, I did not get many progress photos over this period of time...

Specifically, I forgot to take photos of the second charcoal piece I worked on this summer.

Here's the oil pastel piece though! This is the sketch, drawn using the grid method.

I quite like the Portfolio pastels I've been using, but I'd like to try the Mungyo pastels next. I really want to work in brighter, less "close-to-life" colors.

I didn't intend for this work to be the one turned into a "fake flyer" as an expansion on my poorly drawn Wild Card assignment from last school year's art exam. It came naturally, as many things seem to nowadays.

After finishing on paper, I transferred the drawing onto the mobile software Ibis Paint X, which I've found to be a convenient and very accessible resource for post-drawing touchups and layering.

For the fake flyer, I decided to go for a more "moody" atmosphere.

The background in the flyer is actually a double-exposure photo that I took this past summer. The piano and warning label elements were graphics I found on Pinterest. The blurred effect was achieved using an Ibis Paint X brush that I downloaded online.
