Our second major project this year was a self portrait in clay.

I'm not quite sure if I achieved acceptable likeliness. What really bothers me is the shape of the face. I think I may've underestimated the length of my mid-face, and so, the features are more compressed than they should be. The eyes are too low, and the mouth is too high, but I feel that at the very least, if this clay sculpture really does outlive me and is all that is left of my image, I would not be too ashamed. It's not ugly, which I'm glad of.

I took my reference photos with the front camera, so I wonder if there was some lens distortion. However, I am more familiar with my face as it looks through the front camera, so I figured it would be best to base my sculpture off that image.

I've attached several photos, documenting my process.

Also, the pictures are "lowkenuinely" a terrible representation of the sculpture, because there's distortion. I swear it looks better in person.

The facial features which I emphasized were the eyes and nose, as I think they important aspects of my appearance. I also did not forget the mole.

I thought the side profile was well done.
